For small-scale equipment, most rollers are made of 45# carbon steel. For grain crushing applications, carbon steel is fully suitable and will not contaminate the malt. It can be used with confidence.

Precautions: Steel components are prone to rust when exposed to water. While regular use will make them shine, avoid rinsing with water. Clean only with a brush or cotton cloth to remove powder and dust.

Shafts and bearings: Apply a drop of rapeseed oil periodically to maintain lubrication.

【Question 2】 / What if there's oil during first use? How to handle it!

During production, oil residue is present on the rollers. Upon receiving the machine, wipe the surface with a clean towel.

Run 1-2 batches of malt through the rollers to remove excess oil, then wipe clean with a towel.

Many users prefer 316 stainless steel rollers for perceived rust resistance. However, for brewing purposes, iron and stainless steel rollers perform identically when crushing malt.
