Is it necessary to initialize a brand-new diamond plate? And how?
- Yes, we strongly recommend you initialize your stones ONLY for first-time use. All you need to do is gently rub both sides with a piece of flat steel for about 30 seconds and then clean off both surfaces. THIS is to remove the loose diamonds and Only to do this for the very first-time use!
How to sustain the lifespan of my diamond sharpening plate?
- Diamond plates are super easy to maintain. After each use, clean the sharpener with running water and a soft brush. Remember to dry out the plate and store it in a cool, ventilated place.
Should I use my diamond sharpener dry?
- We DO NOT recommend using it dry because chips have to go somewhere. You could hone with some plain water or lapping lubricants. And always remember to dry out the sharpener after each use because water will rust the steel underneath. Diamond plates work best with appropriate lapping lubricant which we are researching and developing right now and will be available any time soon.

- For beginners and multi-tool sharpening purposes, we strongly recommend a 400/1000 dual grit diamond sharpening stone.
- For professionals who have special sharpening needs, we recommend you buy both whetstones and diamond stones.
