This product is a 1:1 ratio epoxy resin, designed for various small craft projects. It cures to a clear, transparent finish, suitable for creating a wide range of beautiful decorative items. It's not recommended for making flat items that require high hardness, precise dimensions, or very flat surfaces, such as rulers. It's better suited for crafting small decorative pieces and embellishments.
- Curing Characteristics: 1:1 epoxy resin might cure to full hardness somewhat slowly. In colder temperatures, like during winter, demolding times will be extended accordingly.
- Odor Note: Epoxy resin products typically have a slight odor. Our particular formula has a mild odor.
- Working Time: This refers to the period during which the mixed resin remains workable. For volumes under 150mL, the working time is approximately 30–40 minutes. You should complete your pouring within this timeframe.
- Curing Time: This is the time it takes for the resin to fully harden, which is typically 24–48 hours for this product.
- Influencing Factors: Higher temperatures or using excessive hardener will accelerate the curing process. Lower temperatures will, conversely, slow down the curing process.
How to Use
Before you start, gather your clean measuring cups (at least two), stirring sticks, molds, and any desired colorants or fillers. Also, make sure your work surface is clean and level, and that the ambient temperature is between 21-24°C (70-75°F).
Here are the specific steps:
- Measure the Resin and Hardener: Pour Part A (resin) into the first measuring cup. Pour Part B (hardener) into the second measuring cup. It's crucial that Part A and Part B have equal volumes (we recommend a 1:1 volume ratio, or a 1.25:1 weight ratio if weighing). You can simply eye-level the liquid surfaces.
- Mix Thoroughly:
- Combine the measured Part A and Part B into a third clean mixing cup.
- Using a stirring stick, stir slowly in a consistent direction. Continue stirring until the mixture becomes crystal clear and transparent, with no visible stringiness. Avoid stirring too quickly or changing directions frequently, as this can introduce excessive bubbles or cause premature exothermic reaction.
- Mixing Time: Stirring should take no more than 5 minutes, aiming for thorough uniformity. For example, a small amount of resin might be mixed in just one minute, while larger volumes could take closer to five minutes to achieve homogeneity.
- Adding Fillers: If you're adding fillers (like pigments, glitter, etc.), incorporate them while stirring and mix until evenly distributed.
- Pour into Molds: Carefully pour the well-mixed resin into your molds or onto your table. Use a spreader to evenly distribute the epoxy across the surface. Your layer should be no more than 1/8" - 1/4" (approx. 0.3 - 0.6 cm) deep to prevent excessive heat buildup and distortion while curing.
- Allow for Bubble Release: After pouring, you can let the molds sit undisturbed for 3–5 minutes to allow bubbles to naturally rise and dissipate.
- Demold: Wait until the resin is completely hardened before demolding.
- Post-Processing: After demolding, if the pouring point of your piece isn't perfectly smooth, you can sand and polish it as needed for a more refined finish. Fully cured resin may shrink slightly, sometimes causing a minor indentation in the middle. If this happens, you might consider adding a second thin layer or sanding it smooth.
- Building Multiple Layers (Optional): If you wish to create a high-build effect or pour thicker items by layering, allow the previous epoxy resin layer to cure for 4-8 hours, until it is no longer tacky (but still slightly flexible), then pour a new layer on top. Repeat this process as needed.

1.Why does my resin look cloudy or feel very thick?
This can be due to a few reasons:
Low Temperature: When the ambient temperature is below 20°C (68°F), both the resin and hardener can become thicker and even appear cloudy.
Over-stirring: Stirring too quickly can generate heat and create many tiny air bubbles, making the resin look opaque.
Solutions:If the cloudiness or thickness is due to cold temperatures, consider warming the unopened Part A (resin) bottle in warm water (30–40°C / 86–104°F) for about 5-10 minutes before mixing it with Part B.
2.Why is Part A (resin) usually thicker than Part B (hardener), and what if Part A is hard to pour?
It's normal for Part A to have a thicker consistency than Part B; this is an inherent characteristic of the product. If you find this inherent thickness difficult to work with, you might consider using a different product, such as a 3:1 ratio river table resin or another type of epoxy with better flow properties.
3.Why does the mixed resin sometimes smoke or get abnormally hot? How can I prevent and deal with it?
Resin smoking or experiencing abnormal heat is caused by a vigorous exothermic reaction. Key reasons include:
- Mixing Too Large a Volume: We recommend mixing no more than 100mL or 150mL at a time. Larger volumes accelerate the reaction, leading to a more rapid and intense temperature increase.
- Stirring Too Quickly: Fast stirring increases molecular activity, generating more heat.
- High Ambient Temperature: A warmer external environment also speeds up the reaction.
Prevention:
- Control Mixing Volume: Strictly follow the recommendation to mixno more than 100mL or 150mL at a time.
- Stir Slowly: Always stir slowly in a consistent direction to avoid violent agitation.
- Pour Immediately: 1:1 epoxy resin cures quickly. Pour immediately after mixing, do not wait too long for bubbles to disappear in the mixing cup. Pour the resin into the mold first, then address surface bubbles. This helps prevent excessive heat buildup in the mixing cup.
- Handling Exotherm: If abnormal heating occurs, immediately move the mixing cup to an air-conditioned room and set the AC temperature to around 16-19°C (61-66°F) to help cool it down.
4.Why does my cured resin feel soft or remain sticky?
This usually happens due to:
- Incorrect Ratio: Too much Part A (resin) or too little Part B (hardener), not mixing according to the recommended ratio.
- Incomplete Mixing: The resin wasn't fully stirred until it was clear and free of stringiness. Excessive Pigment or Incompatible Pigments: Adding too much colorant, or using pigments not suitable for epoxy resin.
- Moisture Contamination: Resin bottles left open too long, absorbing moisture from the air; water introduced during mixing; or moisture in fillers (like natural materials).
Solutions: Strictly adhere to the recommended mixing ratio (1:1 by volume, 1.25:1 by weight); stir slowly in one direction until fully mixed; use only small amounts of resin-compatible colorants; ensure your workspace is dry and prevent any moisture from contaminating the mixture.
5.Why does my resin piece have so many bubbles? How can I reduce or eliminate them?
Bubbles can form for many reasons, including agitation during transport, high temperatures accelerating curing, low temperatures making the resin thick (hard to mix), stirring too fast or changing directions frequently, pouring too quickly or from too high, scraping the sides of the mixing cup, and trapped air in complex mold shapes. Rapid or excessive stirring can also cause heat and generate bubbles.
Elimination Methods:
- Resting: Let the mixed resin sit for 3–5 minutes to allow bubbles to naturally rise and dissipate.
- Warm Water Bath: You can place the mixing cup in warm water (40–60°C / 104–140°F) for 3–5 minutes to help release bubbles (but be aware this will also accelerate curing, so control the time strictly).
- Physical Removal: Use a heat gun, resin defoamer, toothpick, or straw to eliminate surface bubbles on your piece.
- Proper Stirring: Ensure the resin and hardener are mixed at an ideal temperature of 21-24°C (70-75°F). Stir slowly and steadily, avoiding scraping the sides of the mixing cup.
- Timely Pouring: 1:1 epoxy resin cures quickly. Pour immediately after mixing (especially with larger volumes); don't wait for all bubbles to disappear before pouring; you can deal with surface bubbles after it's in the mold.
- Layered Pouring: Pour in layers no thicker than 1/4 inch (about 0.6 cm) to help reduce trapped air.
