as5048a is a 14-bit rotary position sensor (previously called encoder) for absolute angle measurement and PWM (= Pulse Width Modulation) full rotation output at 360° based on non-contact magnetic sensor technology. The device is suitable for shaft applications with a simple two-pole magnet turning the sensor IC above or below and the zero position can be programmed into the device with simple SPI commands. The absolute magnetic angular position resolution is 14 bits = 16384 position measurement, serial interface (SPI) with digital value per revolution.
AS5048 provides PWM output and SPI or I2C interface to provide absolute angle measurement for the microcontroller. There is no need to consider the precise matching of the initial zero position of the chip and the magnet poles used in the mechanical design. Instead, the zero position can be programmed through simple SPI or I2C commands (without special programming equipment) as early as the assembly. AS5048 internal memory.
