Module description
The ADL5501 is an average response power detector, 50MHz to 4GHz in the high-frequency receiver and transmitter signal chain. It is easy to apply, only requires a power supply voltage between 2.7V and 5.5V, power supply decoupling capacitor. The input is internally AC-coupled, with a nominal input impedance of 50Ω, and the output is linearly responsive to a DC conversion voltage of 6.3V / Vrms at 900MHz.
The ADL5501 is suitable for simple true power measurements and complex waveforms. The device is particularly suitable for measuring high crest factor (high peak to rms ratio) signals, such as CDMA-, CDMA2000-W-CDMA- and QPSK- / QAM-OFDM-based waveforms. The on-chip modulation filter provides an average value suitable for most waveforms.
On-chip, a 1000Ω series resistor at the output, combined with an external bypass capacitor, creates a residual ripple DC output voltage that reduces the response of the low-pass filter. For more complex waveforms, an external capacitor at the FLTR pin can be used to supplement signal demodulation. The ADL 5501 provides excellent temperature stability across the 30 dB range and near the entire temperature of 0 dB measurement error at the top of the dynamic range. In addition to its temperature stability, the ADL5501 has low process variations which further reduces the complexity of calibration.

Precautions for using the module
(1) The maximum input power of the detector module is + 15dBm, and the dynamic range of the detector is 40dB.
(2) The output terminal of the module and the power supply are pin headers connected together. When power is turned on, it must correspond to VCC and GND. The module does not have a power indicator, so be sure to correspond and then power on; avoid chip or module damage .
(3) The module is a low-power module, and the power supply does not exceed 5.5V.
(4) Since the module is a high-precision device, in order to avoid unnecessary interference, it is recommended to use a linear power supply.
(5) It is recommended to use the SMA interface for the input signal. Poor contact or poor quality wires may cause signal attenuation or excessive noise, making the measurement inaccurate.
(6) The response and dynamic range of the detector module at different frequencies will be different, and there are differences between different modules. It is a normal phenomenon and not a module problem.
