Module description


AD606 is a complete, single-chip logarithmic amplifier using 9-level "continuous detection" technology. Can provide logarithmic output and limiting output. The logarithmic output comes from a three-pole post demodulation low-pass filter that provides a loadable output voltage from +0.1V DC to +4V DC. All adjustment parameters are proportional to the power supply voltage, and the logarithmic adjustment dynamic range is: when the sine input is -75dBm, the output is +0.5V; when the input is +5dBm, the output is +3.5V. Outside this range, the typical value of logarithmic linearity is within ±0.4 dB. The second low-pass filter automatically cancels the input offset voltage of the first stage to a level below microvolts. If external capacitance is added to both filters, the device can operate at input frequencies as low as a few hertz.

The limiter output of the AD606 provides a hard-limit signal output as a differential current of ±1.2mA from the open acquisition output. In a typical application, both outputs are loaded by a 200Ω resistor, providing a voltage gain of more than 90dB from the input. Precautions for using the module


(1) The maximum input power of the detector module is + 5dBm.

(2) The dynamic range of the detector is 80dB.

Q: Is there no response when measuring pulse power? The output is a straight line.

A: The default function of the module is power detection. It cannot detect the size of pulses or instantaneous power.
